The trap of software built for mainland France
Rates, tax office and currency differ from mainland France. Software that does not know them produces exports that must be reworked by hand before each deadline, with the risk of error that comes with it.
The right approach starts from accounting entries: each sales or purchase line carries its rate from the moment it is entered, and returns are built from those lines.
VAT: start from the period's entries
The return is built from the period's entries, by rate, and is recalculated if a document changes. The software suggests the deductible VAT to claim; the person filing checks it before approving.
In Vaka, each return follows visible stages, draft, approved, filed, paid, and deadlines appear in a tax calendar.
One rate per line: 5%, 13% or 16% depending on the transaction.
Deductible VAT suggested, then checked.
Deadlines tracked in a calendar.
Corporate tax: accrue at year-end
At year-end, the tax for the financial year must be calculated, accrued in the accounts and tracked until payment. Instalments and adjustments fit into this step, with review and consistency checks.
When the calculation lives in the same tool as the accounts, the accrual follows the closing entries: a last-minute correction flows through to the tax without an intermediate spreadsheet, and the accountant can see how the figure was reached.
DAS2: do not forget fees paid
The DAS2 lists fees, commissions and brokerage paid to third parties. Finding them by hand at year-end takes time; software can scan the relevant accounts for the year and prepare the statement.
In Vaka, you complete and approve the return; once submitted, it can no longer be changed.
Working with your accountant
The tax return bundle is generated from the accounts: each box of the DICP bundle is linked to the accounts that feed it, and the accountant checks amounts instead of copying them.
Vaka provides business, accounting-firm and client-portal workspaces on the same files. For firms themselves, Vaka Expert manages engagements, teams, time and profitability.
